Prakruthi Vana – A Living Tribute to Nature
Prakruthi Vana is a unique eco-concept park in Yediyur Ward, created to remind society that nature is supreme and must be protected for future generations.
As literacy increases, technology advances, and scientific innovations grow in the name of “development,” human actions against nature have intensified relentlessly. Hills are destroyed for mining, forests are depleted through indiscriminate tree cutting, and water bodies are degraded by unchecked urbanization. In response, nature continues its counterattacks—rising global temperatures and frequent natural disasters such as floods, droughts, landslides, earthquakes, and famines are occurring worldwide, claiming millions of lives. Time and again, it has been proven that no matter how advanced science and technology become, humanity ultimately loses when it wages war against nature.
In this context, protecting nature is not a choice but a collective responsibility. Preserving natural wealth for future generations and creating a safe, sustainable environment has become an urgent moral duty with this realization—and the belief that Nature is the true God—the concept of Prakruthi Vana was conceived and brought to life near South End Circle in Yediyur Ward.
Prakruthi Vana is a thoughtfully designed ecological park spanning approximately 1.5 acres, modeled as a dense forest. At its heart stands a majestic 43-foot statue of “Prakruthi Deva”, with a flowing stream emerging from the head, symbolizing life and continuity. The park also features powerful artistic installations, including Vanadevi crying with her child and depictions of natural treasures at the source of a river, conveying both the beauty of nature and the pain caused by human destruction. Through these visual narratives, the park educates visitors on actions that protect nature and those that harm it.
In addition to its ecological richness, Prakruthi Vana houses precious medicinal herbs sourced from the Himalayas, Dandeli, Dattatreya forests, and Agumbe, along with rare and colorful plant species that attract attention and curiosity. Beyond its environmental and educational value, the park is also an engineering and sustainability marvel—its entire lighting system is powered by 250 kW of electricity generated daily from waste at the Yediyur Bio-Methanization Plant. Built as the country's first-of-its-kind concept garden, Prakruthi Vana stands as a potent reminder that actual development lies in harmony with nature, not its destruction.
